Pakistan and Terror

Not fond of everything that David Cameron has said the last few days. The Americans were busy financially raping us and were otherwise doing pretty much the square root of nothing in 1940. Indeed US Troop numbers didn’t match the British until 1944, although by then they were supplying most of the kit. Gaza isn’t a Prison camp because of the Israelis; it’s a prison camp because they elected a bunch of violent psychopaths whose only policy is to bomb the crap out of Israel. They built their own bars with every Grad 122mm Katyusha rocket they launched . But what he said about Pakistan is spot on.

Yes their Army have had casualties clearing up some parts the North West Frontier Badlands; but everybody and his dog knows the ISI fund and support the Taliban. This is because they’re worried of the Indian hoards doing a Von Schlieffen through Afghanistan. What this supposed Intelligence Service fails to point out is why the Indians would want to take over this rather benighted country in the first place. Are the Indians short of a decent offside spinner and willing to invade another country to get one? Because with the best will in the world, India wouldn’t be invading Pakistan for more modern industry, infrastructure and education system.

The irony is in the attempt to strengthen Pakistan by playing both sides, their support of the Taliban weakens their own country by radicalising people into sending their kids to Madrassas rather than computer school. Kids who consider 72 Virgins by blowing up a Afghan Police Checkpoint a valid career option. Oh and the side benefit is that they regularly blow up parts of their own country as well. This will not bring in the business, entrepreneurship or the skills necessary to compete with India. Why is David Cameron not visiting you? Because unlike India we’ve nothing to trade with you, you offer nothing except truck drivers to move our 24Hour Rat Packs to Helmand. The ISI is dooming its country to be a nation that produces nothing more than the odd decent batsman and 174 Million rug makers. Why is an Intelligence Organisation too stupid to realise this.

Agreed. What was said needed to be said, even it appears to have been said almost be accident. The comments of Miliband on this merely confirm what a cunt he is.

And fighting a war in the Pacific.....

Pedantry alert! For the above analogy to be correct, the Schlieffen plan would have had to envisaged a German advance into France via Spain. Afghanistan and India do not have a land border and, indeed, are separated by Pakistan.

However, Pakistan does view Afghanistan as its strategic hinterland and views any Indian influence there as a threat. Accordingly, the ISI uses the Afghanistan Taliban to destabilise the relative Indian friendly government of Hamid Karzai.

I agree with everything else you have stated.

If you want a WW1 analogy, Pakistan has commonalities with Serbia in 1914: a weak government terrified of its own military intelligence establishment (which had even gone as far as to assassinate an unpopular Serbian king some decades previously), which was enthusiastically supporting terrorism (the 'Black Hand' and 'Young Bosnia' IIRC) abroad (the Austro-Hungarian Empire) in the service of a supra-national political agenda (pan-slavism, encouraged by the Russians).

Apologies to Serbs for the comparison - Serbia had and has numerous redeeming qualities, whilst Pakistan has none.

The British were fighting the Japanese too through India and Burma (indeed they were fighting larger numbers of troops than the Americans and Aussies in the Pacific due to the open terrain and manouver warfare afforded by the Indian subcontinent). I included those numbers.

Anonymous 2 Err. Yes I know. But have a look at a map of Jammu and Kashmir (Part of India) and Gostaw in Afghanistan - not very far apart in manouver warfare terms. Especially if India was buddy buddy with Afghanistan and were allowed free passage then my Von Schliffen/Von Moltke analogy of the Germans hooking through Belgium is not that ridiculous. However I still state - why would the Indians want to invade Pakistan in the first place. Its inherrently worthless to them. They're far more interested in Afghanistan because of raw materials and business.

Guys, please put a name up. Its a lot easier to respond.

Quite so, which is why the bastards devote so much effort to provoking the Indians, in the hope of finally getting the great Jihad which will let them work off their massive and richly deserved sense of inferiority through massive bloodshed.

After Pearl Harbor, Churchill was worried that the US would immediately raise a huge Army and divert a significant part of the stream of war materiel then going to the British Army. It was CHURCHILL who helped to persuade FDR to continue supplying the British Army at more or less the prior rate, and build up the US Army more slowly than would otherwise have been the case.
